Molly Alcott didn’t expect to open her mailbox one summer morning and find an old letter stuffed between bills and a supermarket flyer. Penned in familiar handwriting, dated over fifteen years ago, the letter was written to Molly after her first date with the man she’ll never forget.
Week after week, new letters appear. Each marks an event in the history of their epic love affair. Each heals a wound. Each holds the confession of the man who still owns Molly’s heart.
The letters are full of promise, hope and love, but truth be told, Molly wishes she could unread them all.
Because the man who wrote these letters is not the one sending them.
I LOVED Letters to Molly. It was emotional and sweet, full of heart and heartbreak, hope and second chances. I read it in one sitting, couldn’t put it down! It’s seriously ALL the feels, you guys! A definite must read. You can grab it now!
When I met Finn and Molly in The Birthday List I was more than enamored with them. The fact that Molly seemed to be the catalyst for the explosion of their marriage intrigued me. I was so curious as to what exactly transpired between this couple, and I found myself already invested in their HEA, even though I had no idea that they would be getting a book. So, when the announcement came that Letters to Molly, a companion novel to TBL, was coming, I was beyond happy.
Finn and Molly are special characters and their love story is layered by so many things. At first, it’s all heartbreak, the emotional upheaval and grittiness these characters have to wade thorough is tough. You almost think there’s no way they can get through it. The damage inflicted by one thoughtless, reckless moment is too much. Too painful. Too overwhelming. But then, in the same breath, you see the glimmers of hopefulness and healing, you begin to sense the sweet and tender and heartfelt feels simmering under the surface, and you just know that this couple can make it.
Letters to Molly is a very realistic portrayal of just how easy it is to lose yourself in the savageness of life, and just how quickly things can spiral in a way you never saw coming. Devney weaves pure emotion into each word and hits you deep in the gut. Finn and Molly are divorced and what they feel for each other is toxic and messy. They have endless amounts of baggage to work through, but both seem to content with just burying their heads in the sand and dealing with their day to day. And then something happens, sparks ignite between them, and letters begin randomly showing up in Molly’s mailbox, thrusting her and Finn back into the past, back to the memories and feelings they’ve long since buried.
And holy shit, it’s all the things. You desperately want these characters to be okay. You find yourself needing them to have an HEA. And I just loved it. I couldn’t put it down. Not for a minute. Devney Perry is a gorgeous storyteller and she knows how to keep you invested, needing, feeling, and falling in love one word at a time.
Overall, this is the sweetest second chance romance. It can be read by itself or after The Birthday List. It’s brimming with angst and tender feels, it’s romantic and so worth the read. I more than loved it. Highly recommend it. And can’t wait for more from Devney. She’s always delivers, and I can’t get enough.
