Casino Security

Casino

A casino’s security begins on the floor, where employees keep an eye on all the games and patrons. Dealers and pit bosses monitor the games and look for patterns in betting and cheating. Every employee has a supervisor who monitors them, so if one employee is acting suspiciously, a higher-up can easily catch him.

The casino’s name is derived from the French word “casino,” which means “gambling house.” The concept of a casino spread to other European countries, where casino games were first invented. In the United Kingdom, licensed gambling clubs have been in operation since the 1960s. France legalized casinos in 1933, and today France is home to several of the world’s most famous casinos.

While many legitimate businessmen were reluctant to invest in casinos, organized crime figures had plenty of cash in their illegal rackets, and did not care about the reputation associated with gambling. These individuals poured money into casinos, which led to a steady flow of mafia money into Reno and Las Vegas. Some casinos were even ran by mobs, and even their staff members were intimidated by the mafia.

Some casinos specialize in inventing new games. Some are licensed by the state.
