The brother known as Hound has a reputation. He’s all about cracking heads, having a good time, and when the Chaos Motorcycle Club needs someone to do the tough job, they call on him.
But Hound has a secret. He fell in love with a woman years ago. She’s untouchable. Unattainable. And even when her status changes, for Hound, it remains the same.
Keely Black had it all early and lost it all not long after. Thrown into an abyss of loss and grief, she’s faced a life of raising two sons alone and battling the rage at all that had been ripped from them.
Words spoken in anger open Hound’s and Keely’s eyes. For Hound, he sees he’s wasted his life loving the wrong woman. Keely sees she’s wasting her life not opening herself to the love of a good man.
To say that we’re in love with Keely and Hound’s story would be an understatement. Everything about this breathtaking romance stole our heart. Kristen Ashley and the Chaos characters are so special to us and we just can’t express our love and addiction to this series. If you haven’t read it, DO THAT NOW. Reviews and book/series info below.
5 “This was Everything” Stars!”
“I’d never hurt you.”
She’d been killing him for twenty years.
He didn’t enlighten her about that.
First thoughts after finishing: HERE COMES THE BOOK HANGOVER FROM HELL! <<— Because, oh my gosh! I will NEVER get enough of this series, this cast of characters, or this world that Kristen Ashley has so meticulously created. It is hands down the BEST BIKER series I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. I’m so in awe of his authors talent for weaving characters together from different series, different books, making it one impeccably cohesive world. It’s so so soimmersive and all consuming. I honestly, can’t swoon over it enough. I get beside myself giddy when I hear a new book is coming from KA! She delivers. And man, did she deliver MAJOR with Wild Like the Wind. If you haven’t started this series, if you haven’t read a Kristen Ashley book, you are missing out. This is only my 24th novel of hers, I have MANY MORE to go, her catalog is extensive, but it’s another FIVE star winner that I want to stand on a mountain top and SCREAM about. It’s everything. Every. single. thing!!! And I am so completely addicted her novels.
Wild Like the Wind, the 6th installment in the Chaos Series, is going to DESTROY you. It is the most intensely passionate story about Hound and Keely. It’s got all the lush feels, all those deliciously achy emotions that reach into your chest, grab your heart, and squeezeeeeeeeeeee! I felt this couple’s story deep. Hound is pure sweetness, which actually took me by surprise. I did not expect this big, broody, masculine enforcer to have such a soft side, but he had it, and it made me melty and breathless. Obviously all KA heroes are always intense and protective, but when it came to Hound’s love for Keely it was another level–utterly relentless and so powerful.
Keely Black is a widow. Her husbands murder devastated her, dousing her spark for life. Over the years Hound takes care of everything for this woman. He brings her what she needs, takes care of her boys, gives her whatever he can, whenever he can. Keely’s husband was the heart of Chaos, and Chaos takes care of their own. But for Hound it’s more, he cares for her unconditionally. And it KILLSSSSSSSSSSS! This book is all about true love. It’s Keely and Hound’s struggle to find happiness, and it’s PURE BEAUTY. I couldn’t get enough of this heart rendering romance. The sweet moments peppered with the harsh and gritty hit me hard. I absolutely loved the pacing, the sub-plot that keeps us involved, the writing, the character development, the everything. There isn’t a single word in this book that I didn’t absolutely love.
If you’re a Chaos fan, prepare to be swept up in a lush, heart stopping romance that will steal your heart. And if you’re not, if you haven’t started these books, I urge you to do it. Although Wild Like the Wind can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading Motorcycle Man first and then hopping into the Chaos books. These characters are gritty perfection and every last one of them will leave a mark on you. I’m honestly so blown away by this book, this series, this author. It truly doesn’t get better than Kristen Ashley when it comes to romance. I’m such a fan! FIVE STARS!!!!!
“Life’s a game, Hound. People don’t play it. We’re pawns. It plays us. And every day you don’t know how it’s gonna play you. You could wake up a winner, or you could wake up a loser.” She pressed into him, tightening her arms around him. “But when you’re wild like the wind like we are, you roll with it. Today, I woke up a loser. But I’m gonna end the night a winner.”
5 “This was Everything” Stars!
Have you ever loved the tone of a story so much that before you’re even halfway through, you already want to go back to the beginning and start again? I felt that way repeatedly throughout Wild Like the Wind. Every bit of this story had me giddy with inexplicable emotion, elated over the promise of what was to come, overwhelmed with unease over how complicated this story was shaping up to be. But more, I was completely intoxicated by the rush of being back in the world of Chaos. Of all the Kristen Ashley novels in her library, there are none that I love and reread more than the Chaos series. So being back in the world of these fiercely loyal bikers who love hard and fight hard to protect their own while living wild and free was like a shot of adrenaline straight to my heart. I’m addicted to this series and I’m a reader who revisits it regularly, so I’m thrilled to share that Hound and Keely’s story is one I’ll be rereading again and again.
There is so much beauty in this story I don’t even know where to begin. Hound came out of nowhere and shattered my heart, quickly becoming one of my all time favorite KA heroes. Even now, my heart both cracks and soars when I think back on everything he is on these pages. Keely and Hound’s romance is breathtaking and gut wrenching and deliciously sexy, it’s everything I didn’t even know to hope for when I began reading. But I have to say, the dynamic between Hound and Jean will stand out as one of the most unforgettable, inspiring relationships between two characters I’ve ever read in a Kristen Ashley novel. The friendships and loyalties between KA’s characters are truly the backbone of every single one of her books. It’s never just about the romance in her stories, it’s about the inextricable ties that link every single personality together in her vast ensemble of characters. And the connection Hound shares with Jean, the unconditional love and the most selfless form of friendship, was so incredibly moving to witness. They say one’s character is defined by who they are when no one else is watching, and Hound’s truth and his heart and the absolute beauty of his character is never more evident than when he’s with Jean. If you don’t fall hard and fast for this blue-eyed biker, something is seriously wacked in your soul.
Wild Like the Wind is an all consuming romance about second chances, about grabbing life by the balls, about finding your way back after grief, but it’s all swathed in a deliciously forbidden biker romance, and if there’s anything more delicious in the world that the idea of a forbidden MC romance courtesy of Kristen Ashley, I’d like to be formally introduced immediately. The forbidden nature of what’s growing between Hound and Keely is something the Chaos MC has strict rules against. But more, Keely and Hound’s own turmoil over moving on together with the shadow of the past hanging over them is just as emotionally taxing as keeping it a secret from the club. This story is raw and intense and complicated and it all makes for such an emotionally tumultuous reading experience. There’s something palpable about the way KA characters love each other and take each other’s backs and because of that, the notion that Hound and Keely getting together might bring the wrath of the club upon them is a legitimate fear that you both want to see tested in the name of love and avoided for the sake of brotherhood.
I absolutely ADORED this story from beginning to end. The history of the club, all we know about Chaos’ darkest days, comes full circle in this book, bridging the past with the present, laying the framework for future drama and more inevitable romance. It’s both addictive and awe inspiring what Kristen Ashley continues to do with each Chaos installment, masterfully weaving together decades of longing, loss, brotherhood and rivalry to create new standalone romances that are both refreshingly thrilling and comfortably familiar. As each Chaos brother finds his way to happy, more drama and uncertainty is unleashed on the club ensuring the reader is instantly ravenous for more. That’s where I’m now left… with an epic book hangover, completely bereft that Wild Like the Wind is over, my heart overflowing with joy and peace over Keely and Hound’s unforgettable romance, but bursting with both dread and anticipation for what’s sure to come in the wake of these events.
Hound’s phone buzzed with a text.
He pried his eyes open, saw his alarm said it was nearly two in the morning and he grabbed his cell off the nightstand.
He had a text from Keely.
It said, Open your door, cowboy.
He stared at it a second.
Then he lost his mind.
He was out of bed, in his jeans and stalking to the door with his jeans not all the way buttoned before most men could spit.
He’d looked out the peephole and had the door unlocked and pulled open before a woman could say “boo.”
“Hey—” she started, giving him a look.
But she got no more out because he wrapped his fingers around her upper arm and yanked her inside.
He slammed the door, locked the three locks then shoved her against the wall beside the door with his hand still on her arm.
“Jesus, Hound, what—?”
He dipped his face right in hers.
“Are you fucking insane?”
“What?” she whispered, staring in his eyes.
“Are you…fucking…insane?” he repeated, slower this time.
“Why are you asking me that?”
“Because it’s near-on two, this apartment building is on the brink of bein’ a full-blown crack house, it’s in a neighborhood that Hell’s Angels might find a smidge too scary, and your ass is not in your bed in your sweet crib in your house in your nice neighborhood. Instead, it’s at my door.”
Her face screwed up. “Why is it safe for you and not for me?”
“Because I got four guns, seven knives, six inches on you, eighty pounds and a fuckin’ thousand-pound punch.”
“You know the PSI of your punch?” she asked curiously.
“Were you asleep the five thousand times I took your boys to the gym?” he asked back irately.
“No,” she mumbled.
He let her go and straightened away, asking, “What are you doin’ here, Keely?”
“Well, uh…” she started hesitantly, eyeing him up like she wasn’t sure how to go on.
“You’re here to play with my dick,” he bit off.
“How much more mad at me would it make you if I shared that had crossed my mind?” she asked.
“Maybe five, ten hundred thousand times more mad, babe,” he shot back in answer.
“Hmm…” she murmured, still eyeing him.
“I thought we agreed we were done,” he reminded her.
“I was kinda hoping you were feeling flexible about that.”
Hound looked to the ceiling.
Her soft “Hound” in her low, velvet voice came at him the instant her hand lit on his bare chest.
He grabbed her wrist and she made a surprised noise as he twisted it behind her back, jerked her around, and pushed her chest first into the wall.
He put his mouth to her ear.
“Undo your jeans,” he ordered.
About the Author
Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.
Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.
